Introduction
The Kensington is on the tree lined Columbus Ravine and is a lovely Victorian terrace property. Although we aim to meet the needs of all of our guests due to the nature of the property this can make access for guests with limited mobility sometimes difficult as we are located on a gentle hill.
The Kensington has 2 steps leading up to the entrance and bedrooms on 2 different levels, making them unsuitable for wheelchair users.
Pre-Arrival
- The Kensington is located on a main road with easy access by car
- nearest shop is 200yds away.
- Scarborough Railway Station is approx' 3/4 mile away. Plenty of taxis are available around the station, but we are happy to collect you from the station just ask at the time of booking.
- The nearest bus stop to the town centre is 200yds away.
- We do not accept pets but we do accept guide dogs for the blind, hearing dogs for the deaf.
- BSL level 2 is available but please be patient with me as I may be a little slow to start with as I do not get the opportunity to use it very often.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- When making a booking please advise us of your anticipated arrival time
- we do accept walkers, bikers and cyclists.
- Assistance with luggage is always available
- Rooms are available from 2pm we ask you to vacate your room by 10.30am on day of departure.
- Parking is outside the hotel with 'on-street’ permits provided FOC to enable you to park at no cost for the duration of your stay
Main Entrance & Reception
- There are 2 steps into the hall area from outside which are18cm high. There is door bell to ring on arrival
- A reception desk is in the hallway where you check in.
- The main entrance door is side hung to the left.
- There are foot wipers on entrance and there is a lit sign above the door.
- The opening times are 7.30am until approx 11pm where we are mostly present.
- The main entrance is level to the stairs which lead to the first floor.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
- the front door leads through to the hall which has a laminate floor.
- All rooms including public areas have central heating and are double glazed
- off the hallway through a door is the guest lounge with sofa, easy chair. The TV has teletext and subtitles, sky and a DVD player. The door through to the lounge is a fire door
- the dining room, which has separate tables for each room, is also accessed through a door off the hallway.
- The Kensington has a staircases of 16 steps leading to the first floor then a further 16 steps to the second floor, all staircases have handrails to one side
Public Areas - WC
- There is no public WC on the ground floor.
- The fire alarm is in the form of bells and sirens there are no flashing lights.
- In the event of a fire the alarms would sound and any hearing impaired guests would be personally collected from their rooms.
Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe
- The Kensington is NOT licenced
- The dining room is fully carpeted with separate tables for each bedroom
- All meals are served in the dining room, evening dinner is available 6 days a week, no evening meals are served on a Sundays. We also cater for any special dietary needs but please let us know your requirements when booking. Orders for evening meals are taken at breakfast.

Bedrooms
- 5 of our 6 rooms are en-suite the small single room has its own private bathroom with an over the bath shower.
- The 6 bedrooms set on 2 floors all are fully carpeted and central heated
- There are hospitality trays and TV's in all rooms. There are no fridges in the rooms but we are happy to keep any medications in the fridge such as insulin ext, we are also happy to keep any wine you may bring with you for the evening meal or supply you with ice if you bring in drinks to have in your room.
- Hairdryers and irons are provided on request.
- All rooms are individually decorated to the highest standard
- 4 bedrooms are located on the first floor 1 king-size, 1 double, 1 twin and the single with the private bathroom just along the hall way.
- 2 bedrooms are on the second floor 1 double and 1 twin.
- The entrance to the bedrooms is all level
- There is a kettle in each room which all have the water level indicator.

- Room 1 the king-size room on the first floor and room 6 a twin on the second floor have full opening shower doors.
- Room 2 a twin on the first floor, room 3 a double on the first floor and room 5 a double on the second floor all have corner entry showers.

- There is a front garden with one small step down to the garden tables and chairs which are provided for use by the guests
- There are herbs planted as well as flowers to provide a small sensory area in the garden for the visually impaired.
Additional Information
- Fire extinguishers are distributed around the hotel and clearly labelled.
- All fire exits are clearly marked and a full Fire System is in operation
- Please read the fire instruction in your room. Anyone with hearing impairments please advises us on arrival.
- WE ARE TOTALLY NON SMOKING and anyone found to be smoking whilst in our home will be asked to vacate the premises as this is now against the law.
- We are happy to cater for ALL special diets and certain likes and dislikes please advise before arrival
- We are happy to keep medication refrigerated for you
- Wi-Fi access is available throughout the hotel please ask for the access code
